The Client
I first met Jamie back in High School. Her sister was a grade younger than me and her Mom was my lunch lady! Jamie and her Wife, Cortlyn, contacted me to first photograph their son’s One Year Birthday. We decided on Canandaigua for their session and when I arrived, I met Carter, their beautiful son. While the session went on, I learned that Jamie had carried Carter and that Cortlyn wanted to carry the their next but health concerns could be an issue but they would be trying later down the road.

Their session went off without a hitch and Carter was able to have a cake smash on the deck of the gazebo! This was their first session and instantly I felt a bond between us. What a beautiful family they were becoming.
In 2016, they wanted to book Carter two year photos. They wanted something different from their last session and wanted to go for a more woodsy feel in the fall. I love fall colors and it’s the most booked time of year by far for a reason! We went out to Lacey Road in Caledonia with a dirt road and surrounded by colorful trees, it was perfect. We met for an hour and laughed the entire time. Carter was starting to like the camera more which is always something I strive for.

The next call I received from the Watermans’ made my heart soar for them! After many trials and IVF treatments, Cortlyn was pregnant!!
Within a few weeks we were having their gender reveal and just a few short months after that, a session with baby Jack! This pregnancy did not come easy. Cortlyn was very sick and on bed rest most of her high risk pregnancy. So many unforgettable memories in one family, all of which would have gone uncaptured without a family photographer! Can you imagine!?
One of the best parts of being a family photographer is growing with my Clients and helping them capture the memories they will want to remember. They, are growing with me as an artist as you can see by the difference in editing I had when I first started photography during their first session to their most recent; and when I was called for Jack’s one year photos, I was beyond elated! I knew how much this little addition meant to their family, the two and a half years of failed pregnancy attempts for two amazing, loving and deserving parents had finally paid off and here was this beautiful little brother for Carter who had two of the most amazing Mother’s.
We met at Robbs Apple Tree Farm in Brockport where Carter and Jack were able to pick their own apples and look at the stunning colors of the different trees around; some green, some red. It was early fall so some of the trees had begun to take on some yellow among the greens and it paired up perfectly with the rich red from the apples we were picking. Jamie and Cortlyn giggled behind me, sharing looks of profound love every kiss Carter gave Jack. What an amazing family I have the honor of photographing!

Many more sessions to come with the lovely family in the future!
