Mia contacted me back in April and asked if we could set up a session for her family. She had the idea of a Milk Bath Session for her daughter who was going to be 6 months old at the time our date approached and I had never done one of these sessions before so I was really excited to see what we would capture.
They asked if we could have our session at Helmer Nature Center in Rochester, NY and let me know it had sentimental value to them as they visit it frequently. Knowing we were scheduling our session at 5:30pm I was a little nervous having harsh sunlight but when we arrived… the clouds came and acted as a perfect diffuser giving us a lot of time in areas that may have been off limits in bright light! It was perfect and we got started right away!

I wanted to help little Lena warm up to me and my camera so we started with family portraits first. In the meantime, I had Val from Sungrove Blossoms Flowers and Events preparing the florals for the milk bath which we had chosen a spot for and the family and I made our way around the park.

It only took a couple minutes (and some “Baby Shark”) and she started smiling at me and was intrigued by my camera! We visited a couple really pretty locations within the park and Mia and Kevin told me how they walk this park often and how far it goes around!
Such a pretty location! I decided right then, it wouldn’t be my last time photographing here lol!
We made our way down a small hill to this little bridge and my little photography heart exploded! It was such a perfect setting for us to finish up our family portraits before making our way back up to Val and the milk bath. Do you spot that beautiful bouquet Mia is holding? That was also made by Val for Mia to use for our session and it added the perfect POP of color along with her dress!

After the cutest little smiles from Lena and a bunch of laughs from her amazing parents, we finished up their family session and walked back up the hill.
When we arrived, Val had created the most amazing floral arrangement with green leafy plants in the front on top of a veil like cloth from Kevin and Mia’s wedding that they provided alongside a beautiful arrangement of colorful flowers in the tub! Mia had requested that what was best for Lena’s skin was actually an oatmeal instead of regular milk so she had made up sacks of oatmeal and Val floated them around in the water and sure enough, it made a white milky consistency, just like milk! Amazing, right?!
The water was nice and warm and it was time for Lena to get in!

I mean…… do I even need to tell you how it went?? ::::: heart flutters :::::
She had such a great time looking around at the different flowers floating around. With a little help from a comfy towel to keep her elevated and cozy in the tub, she even got to kick back and relax for a little bit! And can we talk about those flowers!? Val out-did herself as usual! Seriously, check her out at Sungrove Blossoms, she’s amazing!
Needless to say, we had the perfect ending to our evening. I was supposed to be heading to camp after our session and I still couldn’t wait for a teaser and rushed home to edit them LOL! Here are just a few of my favorites from their gallery!! Thank you Bock Family for spending your evening with me!
